Sunset in Paradise (video)

Here’s the latest in our “virtual visit to Hawaii” videos. This time we’re back at Sunset Beach to film – what else – a sunset. Last time we were there in the summer. The sun sets straight out from the beach during the summer. During the winter (we shot this in January) the sun goes down to the left of the beach (if you’re facing the ocean). I prefer the winter sunsets but because the surf is often pretty big between November and February, many of the beaches along the North Shore can get very crowded. The traffic for miles in both directions can get gridlocked. But if you are ever on Oahu, especially if you’re planning to go to the North Shore anyway, I highly recommend staying until sundown to watch a sunset at Sunset Beach or any other in the area. There are lots of good places to eat in Haleiwa after the sunset before you head back to Waikiki or wherever you are staying.
